So, this weekend, I went to a power yoga class. My goodness, am I out of shape. For the past few weeks, I have been faithfully visiting our little apartment's gym. I thought, boy, I am feeling good about myself. Then, I went to power yoga with my girlfriend Tara. I think I lost 5 pounds of water weight. Whew! I put my hair up in the double buns on the sides, and when I took it down, my hubby said it looked like a lioness. What do you think?
I think it is pretty cool looking.
Also, I finished a totally awesome scarf. It is made with a linen/cotton blend and a novelty yarn that has polka-a-dotted tulle on it. I love it!!!
FYI....I went back to power yoga tonight. I am going to get in shape.
FYII....Yes, that is a bathrobe I have on in our apartment in Orlando in July. We keep the AC on 74, and I am frozen, he he! This West Virginia girl's blood is cold now! Guess I should play more in the snow...whenever we get that in Florida, ha!
I decided to change my life this year, dramatically, one thread at a time, literally! So, I quit my day job and am going back to school full-time for sewing, a real passion of mine. My journey may include moments of shear joy and utter realizations about what in the world have I gotten myself into this time. I invite you along for the journey. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Finished the baby blanket...and she loved it!
Whew, I got the baby blanket done, and it was a huge success. Actually, when I have a baby, I think I would like to make this same blanket.
I knitted 35 baby granny squares out of this beautiful magenta pima cotton. I knitted the purls and purled the knits to create the ribbed look on the squares. Tanya gave me the design to turn them different directions, which I think makes it look wonderful. Then, I did the single crochet with every other increase on the outside with an organic cotton. That organic cotton is soooooooooooooo easy to crochet with. I need more of that from Tuesday Morning!
So, Kelli, who got me into paper art, made me fall in love with all kinds of paper, including wrapping paper. I used this Oriental Designs wrapping paper by Owen Jones that I received from a church bazaar thanks to my other friend Tonya. I absolutely love this book wrapping paper. The designs are exquisite. Then, of course, typical Shalley, I stickered on the names!
So, this summer has definitely changed my life. I not only changed my career, but I am also changing the way I create things. For so long, I would work and work on projects to about 80% completion. Then, I would pick up another project without finishing the first and now I should say the 20th project, he he. This summer, I worked through my projects, and I plan to have them done before I go back to school full-time in August. Look for more finished project posts to come!

Quick update on the blanket...
I found the yarn. Yeah! After hours of searching, and the stores being closed for inventory, yuck, I finally got to the yarn. Just in the nick of time. Still have to do the edging...on to crocheting now.

Big sale. Great buys!
Yesterday I worked this incredibly wonderful large fabric sale. So many great deals and so little time, he he. It was so busy, and because I ran so much at the store, I didn't have to come home and run on the treadmill...yeah!
So, I have another baby blanket to finish, and I got myself into a pickle. If you know me, you know I absolutely LOVE the yarn at Tuesday Morning. I mean that is the place to buy the most beautiful yarns from around the world. Well anyways, I have been so busy with work and school that I haven't had time to get back to the store to pick up another skein of yarn for this baby blanket. And, I usually work on it at 10 at night...like the blog sometimes, he he. Anyway, I ran out. Yikes, check this out.
I need just a little bit of yarn left to finish my horizontal granny squares. I sure hope when Tuesday's opens up again after inventory that they will have one skein left. It not, a plan B will have to go into effect.
Wish me luck...I will need it!
